U.S. President Donald Trump has downplayed the possibility of a war between the United States and Venezuela; however, he suggested that Nicolás Maduro’s days as president are numbered.
When asked by a journalist from CBS’s 60 Minutes whether the United States would go to war against Venezuela, Trump replied:
“I doubt it. I don’t think so. But they have treated us very badly,”
reports the BBC.
His comments come at a time when the U.S. is carrying out strikes against ships suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean — an operation that the Trump administration justifies as part of its efforts to stop the flow of narcotics into U.S. territory.
