U.S. President Donald Trump has defended his personal plans for tariffs, despite the market downturn.
“I think it’s going very well. It was like an operation, like when a patient is operated on. And it’s something big, I said it would be exactly like this,” he stated.
“The markets will grow, stocks will rise, our country will grow, and the rest of the world will see if there’s any opportunity to make a deal,” added the American leader, as reported by Sky News.
“We’ve been taken advantage of for many, many years. There have been many years where we were on the wrong side, and I tell you it will be unbelievable. You will see how it ends – our country will grow,” the president further stated.
After his remarks in the White House courtyard, Trump left Washington on Marine One, heading to Joint Base Andrews.
