U.S. President Donald Trump said that Iran has an “interest in reaching a deal” to end the conflict.
However, speaking to French broadcaster BFMTV, Trump said he is uncertain whether an agreement can be achieved in the near future.
“I have no idea. If they don’t, they’re going to go through a very bad time,” he said.
According to The New York Times, the United States and Israel are carrying out their most intensive preparations for potential new strikes against Iran since the ceasefire reached last month.
Earlier, Trump shared an AI-generated image on his Truth Social platform warning of the “calm before the storm.”
Trump’s latest warnings come as Iran’s Foreign Minister said there remains “distrust” in Tehran regarding U.S. intentions.
Abbas Araghchi stated that there is still a “deadlock” over the issue of Iran’s “enriched material.”
“We doubt their seriousness, but the moment we feel they are serious and ready for a fair and balanced agreement, we will continue negotiations,” he said.
“For now, this issue is not under discussion and is not part of the negotiations, but we will return to it in later stages.”
