The President of the United States stated that Washington will “get involved” in assisting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in facing the legal charges he is currently confronting.

He made the remarks during an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, broadcast on Sunday.

“He is on trial for several things, and I don’t think they are treating him very well. I think we will get involved to help him a little, because I believe it is very unfair,” Trump said.

In the interview, Trump also commented that the ceasefire between Israel and the Hamas-backed group under his 20-point plan “was not fragile” but “very strong,” while the United States has included efforts to resolve the conflict.

He noted that, if he wanted, he could have Hamas disarmed “very quickly.”

Netanyahu is facing corruption charges in the cases known as 1000, 2000, and 4000—charges that he denies and describes as a “witch hunt.” Meanwhile, he is the first sitting Israeli prime minister in the country’s history to be criminally indicted.
