Donald Trump, President of the United States, has canceled planned meetings between his envoys and Iranian representatives in Islamabad, where the sides were expected to work toward a ceasefire agreement to end the U.S.–Iran conflict.
According to Fox News, he said he had halted the delegation from traveling for talks, stating that the U.S. “holds all the cards” and would no longer allow long trips for what he described as “unproductive discussions,” as also reported by BBC News.
The U.S. delegation had been expected to be led by White House special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The sudden decision came at a time when Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had just departed the Pakistani capital after meetings with local officials.
