U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the maritime blockade imposed on Iran will remain in place unless Tehran reaches an agreement with Washington or accepts what he described as “complete surrender.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, Trump accused Iran’s leadership of sending contradictory messages, claiming it publicly calls for negotiations while simultaneously denying that any talks are taking place.
“Iran’s leadership is two-faced,” Trump wrote, arguing that Tehran is making conflicting statements about diplomatic engagement.
Trump added that the United States would not approve any change in the current situation without a comprehensive resolution.
“Nothing will be approved in Iran unless we want it, and nothing will be approved unless there is an agreement or complete surrender,” the U.S. president said.
He further argued that, regardless of whether Iran acknowledges it, Washington is seeking to resolve what he described as a long-standing problem created by Tehran over several decades.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, with Washington maintaining military and economic pressure while signaling that any easing of restrictive measures will depend on the outcome of future negotiations.
Iranian officials have repeatedly denied claims that formal negotiations with the United States are currently underway, underscoring the continuing gap between the two sides over the prospects for a diplomatic settlement.
