The Turkish Embassy in Kosovo has issued a statement following the arrest of the outgoing Minister for Regional Development, Fikrim Damka, on Sunday. Damka, who is also the leader of the Kosovo Turkish Democratic Party (KDTP), was detained alongside a family member on charges of “assault” and “threatening behavior.”
In a statement, the Turkish Embassy expressed regret over the incident, stating, “We have learned with sorrow that Fikrim Damka, the leader of the oldest Turkish party in Kosovo, who participated in yesterday’s elections, has been detained.”
The Embassy further emphasized the importance of maintaining Kosovo’s stability during these challenging global times, urging both the people of Kosovo and the Turkish community within the country to preserve unity and sound judgment. “In these difficult times, as the world faces multiple crises, it is crucial that our sister nation, Kosovo, preserves its stability, and that the Turkish community in Kosovo maintains unity and soundness. Turkey will always stand by Kosovo,” the Embassy added.
This statement highlights Turkey’s ongoing support for Kosovo and its commitment to fostering stability and unity within the region, especially during times of political and social unrest.
