British Member of Parliament Alicia Kearns has reacted to the recent verdict issued by the Basic Court in Pristina, which sentenced three individuals for their involvement in the armed attack in Banjska in September 2023.
In a post on the social media platform “X”, Kearns said that while the perpetrators have been convicted, attention must now turn to those who organized and ordered the attack.
“Now for the leaders of the group, please. You will find them inside the Government of Serbia, while others are hiding and being protected by the Government of Serbia,” she wrote.
Her comments come after the court in Pristina sentenced Blagoje Spasojević and Vladimir Tolić to life imprisonment, while Dušan Maksimović received a 30-year prison sentence for their roles in the Banjska attack, during which Kosovo Police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed.
The verdict has been described by officials in Kosovo as only a partial step toward justice, as Milan Radoičić and other indicted individuals have not yet been brought to trial and remain at large.
The Banjska attack remains one of the most serious security incidents in Kosovo in recent years, continuing to generate political and diplomatic reactions internationally.
