The US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, clarified the latest decision from the White House regarding international trade. Speaking to the media, Bessent delivered a clear message to “every country in the world” interested in negotiating with the United States: “We are ready to listen.”

He announced that the US will reduce baseline tariffs to 10% for countries that did not retaliate against the United States’ recent trade measures. “For China, however, tariffs will rise to 125% due to their insistence on escalating the situation,” Bessent added.

This unexpected move by President Donald Trump comes less than 24 hours after new, higher tariffs were imposed on imports from dozens of US trading partners. Among the countries affected is Kosovo, which faced a 10% tariff penalty under the newly introduced measures.
