President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated that there was no dialogue in Brussels because “Pristina does not want it” and that Serbia is seeking “de jure” recognition. He emphasized that Pristina not only desires “de facto” recognition but also “de jure” recognition, which is what they are demanding.

According to Vučić, he mentioned that Pristina either did not want or did not have the courage to engage in dialogue. This reluctance on their part prevented the dialogue from taking place. He further explained that Pristina’s demand goes beyond mere recognition “de facto” and extends to recognition “de jure”. This is the specific type of recognition that they are seeking and desiring.

In his statement to Pink, Vučić highlighted the importance of “de jure” recognition for Pristina. He emphasized that this is the main objective they are pursuing and that they are not satisfied with just “de facto” recognition. By seeking “de jure” recognition, Pristina aims to solidify its status and legitimacy on the international stage.

Kurti was reluctant to engage in conversation, while the Serbian side “wanted to discuss every agreement on how to solve the problems through compromise”.

“But I knew very well beforehand that they were not willing for such things, as they are not interested in such matters.”

Vučić continued with his propaganda campaign that there is “persecution of Serbs” in Kosovo and that “the international community knows about it, but remains silent because they don’t know what to do with Kurti.”

“Serbs are arrested as they come. When we hold a person for two hours suspected of war crimes against Serbs, they hold him for three hours on a bus, then the entire international community stands up, many European parliamentarians react,” he said.

“It is clear that Kurti does not want to form the Association. It is important to maintain peace and calmness and seek the best solution for the further economic development of Serbia, strengthening Serbia in every sphere of social life,” Vučić claimed.

Vučić said he does not believe there will be a “serious dialogue” in the near future, trying to blame the Kosovar side.

He also commented on the Parliament of Spain discussing the recognition of Kosovo’s independence, saying that “such a result was expected.”

“An expected decision and thank you to our Spanish friends who showed that they are friends and respect international public law,” he added.

Overall, Vučić’s statements reflect his efforts to manipulate the narrative surrounding Kosovo and Serbia, portraying himself as a defender of Serbs in Kosovo while undermining the legitimacy of the Kosovar government. By emphasizing the importance of peace and economic development, he aims to position Serbia as a stable and progressive force in the region. However, his attempts to shift blame and discredit the Kosovar side reveal a deeper political agenda aimed at consolidating power and influence in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
