Today marks 11 years since the fall of the PDK-AKR government and the self-dissolution of the Assembly of Kosovo.

The PDK-AKR coalition was broken off at the initiative of then-Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, though not with the agreement of AKR leader Behgjet Pacolli. Together with Isa Mustafa, leader of the opposition LDK, and following meetings with then-President Atifete Jahjaga, they agreed to dissolve the Parliament.

On May 7, 2014, the Assembly voted with 90 in favor, 4 against, and 3 abstentions to dissolve itself.

This decision paved the way for early parliamentary elections, which were held on June 8, 2014.

The motion was initiated by 57 MPs based on an agreement between the PDK and LDK leaderships. The reasoning was presented by PDK MP Arsim Bajrami, who said this move opened the legal procedures for setting an election date.

The initiative was later supported by PDK and LDK parliamentary groups, while the AAK representatives expressed varied positions.
