On July 19, 1998, Serbian forces launched an offensive in Rahovec, resulting in the killing and wounding of numerous Kosovo Albanian civilians.

At the Sheh Myhedin Tekke in Rahovec, many women, children, and elderly people who had sought refuge inside the religious institution were massacred.

At a location known as “Tuba,” the bodies of two professors and six burned victims were discovered. In total, 150 people were recorded as having been killed during the offensive.

Survivors of the massacre testified that Serbian military, police, and paramilitary forces arbitrarily executed Kosovo Albanian civilians.

During the offensive, many Kosovo Albanians were taken hostage, forcibly disappeared, or abducted.

On July 22, 1998, Serbian authorities in Prizren reportedly dug two large mass graves in the city’s cemetery, where Kosovo Albanians killed during the Rahovec offensive were buried.
