Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he is proud of his country, of “three years of resistance,” and of the “three years of absolute heroism of the Ukrainians.”

Zelensky made this statement on the day marking three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

“Thank you to everyone who defends and supports Ukraine. To everyone who works for Ukraine. And may the memory of all those who gave their lives for our state and people be eternal,” said Zelensky.

To mark this day, he called for an international security summit in Kyiv.

European Union leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, will participate.

“We are in Kyiv today because Ukraine is Europe. In this fight for survival, it is not just Ukraine’s fate that is at risk. It is Europe’s fate,” von der Leyen wrote on social media.

The winner of the recent German elections and the likely next Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, condemned Russia’s aggression and war crimes.

“Now more than ever, we must position Ukraine as a power. For a just peace, the attacked country must be part of the peace negotiations,” Merz wrote on platform X.
