The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed the results of the early presidential elections in Republika Srpska, according to which Siniša Karan has been elected president.
Karan, a candidate of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) led by Milorad Dodik, will serve in this role until the next general elections, expected to take place in October 2026.
The re-run of the early presidential elections was held on February 8 in 16 cities of Republika Srpska and the Brčko District, following the discovery of irregularities in the November 23, 2025 vote by the Central Election Commission.
A total of 41,826 citizens voted, representing 49.51% turnout of the 84,474 registered voters. Elections were conducted across 136 polling stations in 17 local self-government units in Republika Srpska and the Brčko District.
These elections followed the August 2025 decision to remove Milorad Dodik from the presidency due to violations of rulings by the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
