Bedri Hamza, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), congratulated the country on the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s Independence.
In his speech during the solemn session of the Kosovo Assembly, Hamza stated that February 17, 2008 became the day when the courage and sacrifice of generations turned into everlasting hope for every citizen.
“February 17, 2008, is the day when the courage of our generations and their sacrifice became eternal hope for every citizen. The Republic of Kosovo was declared, marking the end of a historical injustice. This day was not by chance; it was the culmination of a long path of struggle and sacrifice. It was the peak of resistance, the victory of determination, of a people who refused to be subdued. Kosovo moved from sacrifice to sovereignty, from resistance to Republic, and from a centuries-old dream to a lasting reality,” he said.
Furthermore, the PDK leader emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is a victory, and that its foundations are carved with the blood of martyrs.
“This Republic is a victory. Its foundations are engraved with the blood of martyrs, built upon the sacrifice of those who chose freedom over life. Therefore, today, on this very important day for our people, we bow with gratitude before the families of the martyrs, the freedom fighters, every citizen who contributed to this day, and our allies,” he added.
