On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Kosovo marked the 18th anniversary of its Independence. The state agenda included numerous official activities, from the solemn parliamentary session to the ceremonial parade of the Kosovo Security Force and the Kosovo Police.

However, the absence of three MPs representing non-majority communities — Bosniak, Egyptian, and Gorani — drew attention. Fridon Lala, Duda Balje, and Adem Hoxha were not present at the Independence Day session or related events.

In response, Lala and Balje stated that their absence was due to health issues.

Lala said he had not missed previous sessions but experienced health problems that required medical attention:

“I have not been absent from previous sessions, but yesterday I had some health issues and needed medical intervention. Today I am continuing to participate in committee meetings and all activities.”

Balje also confirmed her condition, stating:

“I have a very severe flu and am on IV therapy.”

Meanwhile, MP Adem Hoxha has not yet provided a response regarding his absence.
