Today marks the beginning of the commemoration of the Epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army, one of the most important historical events for Kosovo.
Across Kosovo, the first school lesson in every school is dedicated to the liberation struggle of the Jashari family, whose sacrifice became a symbol of resistance and freedom.
The commemorations honoring the KLA war and the Jashari family will take place from March 5 to March 7.
The Epic is closely connected to the heroic sacrifice of Adem Jashari and his family. On March 5, 6, and 7, 1998, they faced a brutal assault by Serbian forces in Prekaz, an event that became a turning point in Kosovo’s liberation struggle.
Activities for March 5
- 08:00 – The first school hour in all schools of Kosovo dedicated to the Epic of the KLA
- 09:00 – Solemn meeting of the Government of Kosovo
- 10:00 – Solemn session of the Assembly of Kosovo
- 10:00 – Solemn sessions in municipal assemblies across Kosovo
- 12:00 – Formation of the units of the Kosovo Security Force at the Adem Jashari Barracks in Pristina
- 14:30 – Nationwide women’s volleyball tournament “Adem Jashari” in Skenderaj
The Epic of the KLA remains a powerful symbol of sacrifice, resistance, and the fight for Kosovo’s freedom.
