A former U.S. Marine was forcibly removed from a hearing in the United States Senate after protesting American military involvement in support of Israel amid tensions with Iran.
Brian McGinnis interrupted a hearing of a subcommittee on the Armed Forces in the United States Congress, declaring: “No one will fight for Israel.”
McGinnis said he was protesting to oppose potential U.S. military involvement in support of Israel in a conflict with Iran.
Following his intervention, security officers from the United States Capitol Police forcibly escorted him out of the hearing room.
According to reports, Tim Sheehy, a Republican senator, also became involved in the incident and helped security officers remove the protester.
Video footage shows three Capitol Police officers attempting to remove McGinnis before Sheehy joined them in escorting him out.
McGinnis has not made further public comments after the incident, but earlier said he wanted to ask senators why they would send American men and women into danger.
