Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani held a meeting with Anu Prattipati, the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Kosovo, in what sources describe as a regular diplomatic meeting, despite the timing coinciding with important political developments regarding the selection of Kosovo’s next president.

According to information obtained by media outlets, the meeting took place at the Presidency in Prishtina and was part of routine diplomatic engagements between Kosovo’s leadership and international partners.

The meeting comes on the final day of the deadline to initiate the procedure for electing a new president, raising concerns that Kosovo could face new elections following a prolonged period of political stalemate.

President Vjosa Osmani had previously expressed her ambition to seek another mandate as head of state. However, the Vetëvendosje Movement, with which she entered the presidential race during her first mandate, has now proposed Foreign Minister Glauk Konjufca as its candidate for the presidency.

The Presidency of Kosovo has also announced that President Osmani will hold a press conference later today, where she is expected to address current political developments and the ongoing discussions surrounding the presidential election.

The situation continues to draw significant attention as Kosovo’s political parties negotiate potential candidates and parliamentary support, with the possibility of fresh elections remaining a real scenario if consensus is not reached.
