Kosovo has become a leading topic in media and online searches in Slovakia following an მნიშვნელოვანი football victory in Bratislava.
According to data from Google Trends, interest in Kosovo saw an immediate surge, reaching levels comparable to 2008, when the country declared independence. This highlights the powerful role of sports—especially football—in boosting a country’s international visibility, said Lirim Krasniqi, Co-Executive Director of the NGO GERMIN.
This spike in interest is viewed as a clear example of public diplomacy through sport, where success on the field not only brings athletic achievement but also enhances a country’s image on the global stage.
The increased attention opens new opportunities for promoting Kosovo’s culture, tourism, and businesses, helping strengthen positive perceptions and build broader international connections.
Kosovo will play its next match against Turkey on March 31, 2026, at Fadil Vokrri Stadium at 20:45.
