Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived yesterday afternoon in Jeddah and is set to stay for the next two days, meeting regional leaders in the Middle East, according to reports.
Meloni is also expected to visit the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Sources from the Italian government emphasized that this marks the first visit by a Western leader to the Middle East since the start of the war.
According to Reuters, one of the main goals of the visit is to strengthen Italy’s energy security.
