The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, who concludes her mandate today (April 4), will hand over her duties to the Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu.
The ceremonial handover will take place at the President’s Cabinet today (Saturday) at 16:00, the Office of the President announced.
Vjosa Osmani was elected President of Kosovo on April 4, 2021, by the Assembly of Kosovo with 71 votes in favor during an extraordinary session. She secured the presidency in the third round of voting, where 82 deputies participated—71 voted in her favor, 11 votes were invalid, and no votes were cast for the opposing candidate.
Following her election, she took the oath before the Assembly, after which the national anthem of Kosovo was performed.
In her inaugural speech, Osmani emphasized responsibility, citizens’ trust, and the importance of women’s empowerment, stating that girls and women can achieve anything through determination and hard work.
She also paid tribute to key figures in Kosovo’s history, including Ibrahim Rugova and Adem Jashari, as well as all those who contributed and sacrificed for the country’s freedom and statehood.
