British MP Alicia Kearns has reacted to the work of outgoing President Vjosa Osmani, who completed her five-year mandate today.
Praising Osmani’s leadership, Kearns said it is the wrong time to lose a leader of her caliber.
“Today, President Vjosa Osmani concludes her mandate. She gave Kosovo a respected voice and elevated its position on the international stage. Above all, she defended her country’s cause with exceptional skill and deep care for the people she served. Her heart was reflected in everything she did. At a time of heightened instability in the Western Balkans, this is precisely the wrong moment to lose a leader of her caliber. Kosovo needs the determination and bridge-building ability she demonstrated. I wish President Osmani every success in the future,” Kearns wrote on X.
Earlier today, Osmani formally handed over presidential duties to the Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, during an official ceremony.
Osmani welcomed Haxhiu, expressing her satisfaction at passing the role of acting president to another woman.
