Albanian students in North Macedonia are set to protest today in Skopje, demanding their right to take exams in the Albanian language.
The protest, organized by the Student Parliament of Mother Teresa University, was announced by its president, Besar Sejdiu, who called for broad public support for the peaceful demonstration.
According to the announcement, the protest will begin at 12:30 from the Stone Bridge. Students are demanding the implementation of their right to take the jurisprudence exam in Albanian—a right they say is guaranteed by the Constitution and existing laws, but not enforced in practice.
Sejdiu emphasized that the failure to implement this right for years has created serious obstacles for Albanian students, directly affecting their academic and professional progress.
He described the issue as more than an individual or political concern, calling it a broader cause tied to equality and the respect of fundamental rights.
Organizers stressed that the protest will be peaceful and dignified, aiming to raise public awareness and push institutions to address the students’ demands.
