Belgrade, April 9, 2026 – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić held a meeting with the European Union Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Prishtina Dialogue, Peter Sorensen, at the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic in Belgrade. The talks, which began at 10:00 a.m., focused primarily on continuing the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtina.
This meeting follows their last discussion in late February, which addressed the current state of the dialogue and the need for more active EU engagement, with a particular focus on the situation of the Serbian community in Kosovo..
President Vučić highlighted ongoing challenges, emphasizing concerns over Pristina’s intentions to implement, from March 15, new measures described as “escalatory and deeply discriminatory,” which, according to him, directly threaten the survival of the Serbian population in the region. Observers note, however, that Vučić’s rhetoric continues to present a distorted image of Serbs in Kosovo, often framing the situation in a way that is not entirely accurate.
He stated on social media at the time that the discussion was open and constructive, underlining the importance of protecting the rights and security of Serbs living in Kosovo..
