Air and drone strikes allegedly carried out by Pakistan in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province have killed at least seven people and injured 75 others, including students and a professor at Kunar University, multiple sources told the BBC.

According to the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan, around 30 of the injured are university students.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information denied targeting the university or residential areas, calling the reports false, according to BBC.

The reported strikes in Kunar come weeks after a separate Pakistani airstrike on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul, which the United Nations says killed 269 people.

A professor at Kunar University told BBC that powerful explosions were heard across the campus, while Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education said university buildings and surrounding areas suffered heavy damage.

Recent months have seen escalating cross-border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, leaving hundreds killed or injured.
