Donald Trump has announced that he will increase tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union to 25%.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized the EU, claiming it is “not respecting the trade agreement,” according to The Guardian.

“I am pleased to announce that, based on the fact that the European Union is not respecting the trade agreement that we fully agreed to, I will be raising tariffs on cars and trucks coming into the United States from the European Union to 25% starting next week,” Trump said.

“The tariff will be 25%. It is fully understood and agreed that if they manufacture cars and trucks in factories in the United States, there will be NO TARIFF. Many automobile and truck factories are currently under construction, with over $100 billion in investments—a record in the history of car and truck manufacturing. These plants, staffed by American workers, will open soon—there has never been anything like what is happening today in America,” he added
