The Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo (PSRK) officially filed an indictment on May 8, 2026, against Police Lieutenant Bojan Jevtić. He is accused of systematically collecting and transmitting classified “confidential” and “secret” documents to the Serbian Security Intelligence Agency (BIA).
Jevtić, who served as the Chief of the Operations Sector at a Border Police Station, is alleged to have compromised national security and the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo over an extended period.
Details of the Allegations
According to the indictment provided by “Betimi për Drejtësi,” the prosecution outlines a sophisticated operation of espionage:
- Method of Transmission: Jevtić reportedly used encrypted messaging apps WhatsApp and Telegram to send sensitive data to a BIA official known by the nickname “Çira.”
- Physical Meetings: The defendant allegedly traveled to Belgrade on several occasions to meet physically with Serbian intelligence representatives.
- Scope of Leaks: The documents involved activities of the Kosovo Police and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI). The prosecution asserts that Jevtić acted with full knowledge of the classified nature of the materials and the potential risk to state officials and citizens.
Criminal Charges
Bojan Jevtić faces two primary charges under the Criminal Code of Kosovo:
- Espionage (Article 124): Specifically for providing classified information to a foreign intelligence service.
- Unauthorized Possession of Weapons (Article 366): During a raid on his home on July 17, 2025, the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo (IPK) discovered a “Zastava” firearm and 43 rounds of ammunition held without a permit.
Asset Seizure and Penalties
The Special Prosecution has proposed several stringent measures to the Court:
- Financial Confiscation: Authorities are seeking the seizure of assets suspected to be the proceeds of criminal activity, including 7,003 Euros, 500 Swiss Francs, and 2,000,000 Serbian Dinars.
- Professional Ban: A 5-year ban on exercising any functions in public administration.
- Continued Detention: The PSRK has requested that Jevtić remains in custody pending trial.
This case marks one of the most high-profile internal security breaches within the Kosovo Police in recent years, highlighting the ongoing challenges of hybrid threats and foreign intelligence interference in the region.
