Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Donald Trump held a phone conversation discussing bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States, developments in the Middle East and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit.
According to the Turkish Presidency, the two leaders focused on the situations in Syria and Lebanon, as well as the ceasefire efforts in the Middle East.
Erdoğan welcomed the decision to extend the regional ceasefire, emphasizing that Turkey will continue supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts across the region.
The Turkish president also stressed that stability in Syria remains crucial for the wider region and stated that Ankara will continue supporting Damascus, while also calling for efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation in Lebanon.
During the call, Erdoğan informed Trump about preparations for the upcoming NATO summit expected to be held in Ankara.
Erdoğan also expressed condolences to Trump following the attack at a mosque in San Diego, emphasizing that Turkey opposes all forms of hate crimes regardless of religious belief.
