Former Prime Minister of Kosovo and leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, paid tribute on the 28th anniversary of the Lybeniq massacre, honoring the victims killed during the war in Kosovo.
In a Facebook post, Haradinaj remembered members of the Hamzaj, Mehaj, and Gogaj families, who were killed on May 25, 1998, describing them as martyrs brutally executed by Serbian forces.
“The pain for them remains unhealed, while their memory is a permanent obligation. Their sacrifice, and that of all the fallen, obliges us to never stop seeking justice, until the orderers and perpetrators of the genocidal crimes committed in Kosovo receive the punishment they deserve. We bow in memory of the lives sacrificed for our freedom,” Haradinaj wrote.
The Lybeniq massacre remains one of the most serious crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, and continues to be a subject of ongoing calls for justice and accountability for those responsible.
