The Council of the European Union has extended sanctions against individuals in Russia accused of serious human rights violations, repression of civil society, and abuses for another year, until May 28, 2027.

The decision was announced in a statement published on the EU’s official website.

“The European Union continues to strongly condemn human rights violations and repression in Russia and is seriously concerned about the further deterioration of the human rights situation in the country, particularly in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the statement said.

According to the information provided, the restrictive measures currently apply to 72 individuals and one legal entity.

The assets of those included on the sanctions list remain frozen, while EU citizens and companies are prohibited from providing them with financial resources. The sanctioned individuals are also banned from entering or transiting through EU member states.
