The Ministry of Digitalization and Public Administration organized a high-level event today to commemorate June 23rd – International Civil Service Day.

Held at the Amphitheater of the former Rilindja building in Pristina, the gathering brought together government leaders, civil servants, and international partners. The primary objective of the event was to recognize and honor the vital contribution of public sector workers in strengthening institutional capacities, stabilizing governance, and modernizing public services for all citizens.

The ceremony opened with an address by the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who underscored the government’s ongoing commitments to anti-corruption, meritocracy, and structural institutional accountability.

Following the Prime Minister, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, the Acting Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, outlined the ministry’s strategic pipeline for digital transformation across civic portals. He emphasized that automating administrative procedures is essential to cutting red tape, minimizing corruption risks, and enhancing operational efficiency within state departments.

Representing international stakeholders, Hubert Perr, the Head of Cooperation at the European Union Office in Kosovo, reiterated the EU’s sustained political and financial backing for public administration reform (PAR). Perr noted that establishing a professional, depoliticized, and highly digitized civil service remains a core prerequisite for Kosovo’s long-term alignment with European Union benchmarks.

Honoring Distinguished Personnel

The summit concluded with an official awards ceremony dedicated to outstanding institutional performers. Special acknowledgments and certificates of merit were distributed to distinguished civil servants across various municipal and central agencies, recognizing their exceptional dedication to public welfare, operational transparency, and administrative resilience during a transitional political cycle.
