NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has confirmed that the next NATO Summit will be held in Albania, following the conclusion of the alliance’s summit.
Rutte stated that the decision was made in The Hague, but added that discussions are still ongoing among allies regarding the exact date of the upcoming meeting.
“The next summit will be held in Albania. That was the decision of The Hague. The summit will take place in Albania, but we still need to decide when,” Rutte said.
Following the announcement, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted through a video shared on social media alongside members of his government, emphasizing Albania’s growing role on the international stage.
“Those who said the summit would not be held in Albania — what do they say now? The time when others decided what happened in Albania is over. Today, Albania does what it says and says what it does. The next summit will be held in Tirana,” Rama said.
The decision marks another significant moment for Albania’s role within NATO and highlights the country’s increasing importance as a security partner in the Western Balkans.
