Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has revealed the revolver he received as a gift from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the NATO Summit in Ankara.
The weapon, a Turkish-made Gümüşay .357 Magnum revolver, was placed in a wooden case featuring the Turkish flag and the NATO logo. Pellegrini’s name was engraved on the revolver, while the gift also included ammunition. The same gift was reportedly given to all leaders who participated in the summit.
A video published by the Slovak president’s office attracted attention on social media, while the unusual gift sparked debate over the legal challenges surrounding the transportation of firearms in several European countries.
Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar also made public the revolver gifted by Erdoğan, describing it as an “unusual gift” from the Turkish president.
“An unusual gift from Turkish President Erdoğan at the NATO Summit. A Magnum pistol with ammunition, engraved with my name…” Magyar wrote.
