Powerful explosions were heard across downtown Dubai on Thursday evening as air defense systems reportedly intercepted missiles over the city during a new wave of Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates, according to eyewitnesses and journalists on the ground.
According to Euronews, residents in central Dubai reported hearing loud blasts, while witnesses said they observed missile interceptions in the skies above the city. At the time of reporting, authorities had not released an official assessment of any damage or casualties.
The latest attacks mark the first Iranian strikes in several months, following the U.S.-Iran ceasefire and the signing of a framework agreement in mid-June aimed at ending the conflict.
Just days earlier, Iran reportedly struck two Emirati vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, raising fears of a renewed escalation in the Gulf.
The situation remains developing, with further updates expected as officials assess the incident.
