Kosovo Police have seized 12 firearms, including three Kalashnikov rifles, during several operations and inspections carried out across different parts of the country on Tuesday.
Authorities also confiscated ammunition and other firearm-related equipment during the operations, according to KosovoPress.
In Podujevë, police found and seized one firearm during a search of a suspect’s home, with the case being processed through regular legal procedures.
In the same municipality, as part of an investigation into a previous attempted murder case, police searched the homes of two wanted individuals. During the operation, officers seized six firearms — three pistols and three long-barrel weapons — along with 67 rounds of ammunition and various firearm components.
In the village of Gjonaj in the Prizren area, police responded to reports of gunfire during a family celebration. Officers seized a gas pistol, an AK-47 automatic rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition and firearm casings. Two suspects were reportedly arrested and placed in detention.
In Deçan, while handling a domestic violence case, police confiscated an AK-47 automatic rifle along with a magazine from a suspect.
Meanwhile, in the village of Temeqin in Malishevë, searches of two homes resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 rifle, a TT pistol, a magazine, 10 rounds of ammunition and a firearm component.
The Kosovo Police said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal possession and misuse of firearms and to improve public security.
