A Kosovo Police officer has been found dead on Tuesday morning at the cemetery of Morinë village in Kukës, northern Albania.
According to preliminary information from the Albanian State Police, the victim was identified as a 35-year-old man from Prizren who served as a police officer with the Rapid Intervention Unit of the Kosovo Police in Prizren.
Authorities said that initial findings suggest the officer may have died by suicide using a firearm. The weapon was seized as evidence as part of the investigation.
A special investigative team, under the direction of the prosecution, is continuing work to clarify the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Albanian State Police said it is cooperating with the Kosovo Police to verify whether the seized firearm was the officer’s service weapon and to collect additional information needed for the legal documentation of the case.
