Kosovo Police have arrested a 25-year-old man in North Mitrovica who was wanted by the courts and is suspected in multiple criminal offenses, including murder, following an operation carried out on July 20.
The suspect, identified by the initials M.P. (born in 2001), was initially sought in connection with two cases of property damage after allegedly vandalizing two vehicles with stones on July 10.
According to Kosovo Police, the suspect had previously evaded arrest during an operation on July 14. After being located in North Mitrovica, officers moved to detain him, but he allegedly attempted to flee once again before being overpowered and arrested.
“On July 20, 2026, police officers in northern Kosovo arrested the suspect M.P. (2001), who is believed to have been involved in two criminal cases registered by the North Mitrovica Police Station for the offense of ‘Damage or Destruction of Property.’ Based on the investigation, he is suspected of damaging two vehicles by throwing stones at them,” the police said in a statement.
During questioning, conducted in the presence of his defense lawyer, M.P. admitted to damaging the vehicles, police said.
Authorities also confirmed that an active court-issued arrest warrant had been in force against him for the criminal offense of “Threats.”
In addition, police records show that M.P. is under investigation in ten other criminal cases, including allegations of murder, incitement of hatred and intolerance, assault on a public official, and unauthorized possession of weapons.
By order of the state prosecutor, the suspect has been placed in 48-hour detention while further legal proceedings continue.
Kosovo Police reiterated their commitment to identifying and apprehending individuals involved in criminal activity and ensuring they are brought before the justice system.
