Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, to discuss Ukraine’s air defense needs, including the licensing of Patriot air defense missile system production.
The meeting took place during Whitaker’s visit to the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday.
“We had a constructive discussion, primarily focused on strengthening Ukraine’s airspace protection by providing additional Patriot interceptor systems under NATO’s PURL (Priority Ukraine Requirements List) program,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian president stressed that enhancing the country’s air defense has become a critical priority.
“This is now a critical priority, as Russia’s massive attacks continue without interruption,” Zelensky wrote in a post on X.
