Police Reveal New Details: Two Female Interior Ministry Officials Arrested Along with a Foreign National

Police investigators from the Investigation Sector of the Border Police Department, following a months-long investigation conducted in cooperation with the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA/AKI), announced that they carried out a search operation today at the offices of the Directorate for Citizenship, Asylum and Migration (DCAM/DShAM).

The operation was conducted under the authorization of the Department for Serious Crimes of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, on suspicion that officials of this directorate were involved in criminal activities.

Police said they seized relevant evidence and documentation connected to the case.

According to the statement, the following suspects were arrested:

  • G.J. (born 1975), female, Kosovo citizen, DCAM official.
  • F.Sh. (born 1979), female, Kosovo citizen, DCAM official.
  • D.K. (born 1988), male, foreign national.

In addition, E.Q. (born 1972), a female Kosovo citizen, was interviewed in the capacity of a suspect.

Investigators suspect that the individuals acted in co-perpetration, issuing residence permits to foreign nationals and enabling them to obtain the relevant documentation in exchange for unlawful financial benefit.

The case has been initiated against the suspects for the criminal offences of:

  • Abuse of official position or authority
  • Accepting bribes
  • Forgery of an official document
  • Giving bribes

By decision of the prosecutor, the first three suspects have been placed in detention for up to 48 hours, while proceedings against E.Q. will continue under the regular procedure.
