Kosovo’s Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla has pledged that authorities will continue searching for every missing person from the Kosovo war following the discovery of suspected human remains at a site in the village of Kalludër e Vogël, in the municipality of Zubin Potok.
Speaking during a visit to the excavation site, Sveçla said the suspected mass grave was uncovered as a result of intensive work by Kosovo’s security institutions and cooperation with local citizens.
“Following intensive work by our security institutions, and with the cooperation of citizens, we have uncovered a mass grave containing the remains of our citizens,” Sveçla said.
He added that investigations are continuing on multiple fronts, including forensic excavations and criminal investigations aimed at identifying and prosecuting those responsible.
“Our intensive work is continuing in several directions, both through excavations and investigative efforts, to identify everyone who is guilty and responsible. We will not stop until the last missing person’s remains are found,” Sveçla stated.
The Interior Minister reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to uncovering the fate of those who were forcibly disappeared during the 1998–1999 war and ensuring that those responsible for war crimes are brought to justice.
The excavation in Kalludër e Vogël is part of ongoing efforts to locate persons who remain missing more than two decades after the conflict.
