The constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly has been suspended after no candidate was nominated for the position of Assembly Speaker.

Session chair Avni Dehari announced that the session would be interrupted and that deputies would be informed in due time when it would resume.

The suspension comes after MPs approved the report of the temporary Commission for the Verification of Deputies’ Mandates and all deputies present took the oath of office.

Albin Kurti the acting Prime Minister wanted more time to discuss with the other political parties to come to a consensus for the Assembly Speaker and the President of the Republic hence did not name anyone for the Speaker.

The next key step in the constitution of the new Assembly is the election of its Speaker, followed by the election of deputy speakers.
