As part of the investigation into war crimes in Zubin Potok, police investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes continue to conduct field operations.
“At the third location, on Saturday, the investigators assigned to the case briefed prosecutor Florije Salihu-Shamolli on the findings and results obtained so far.
The investigation and procedures are being carried out in cooperation with the competent institutions,” the Prosecutorial System said in a brief statement, without providing further details.
Earlier, Kosovo’s Special Prosecutor’s Office announced that investigations were underway at a third suspected mass grave site.
“Currently, investigations are continuing at a third location,” Kosovo’s Special Prosecutor’s Office said, adding that the investigation into war crimes in Zubin Potok is continuing intensively.
Excavations at a suspected mass grave site in Kalludër, Zubin Potok, began at the end of July, while several days ago, excavations also began in Jakubë, another location in the same municipality in northern Kosovo.
According to a report published on July 29, the Institute for Crimes Committed During the War said that, based on preliminary data, 12,230 war victims in Kosovo had been documented for the period from January 1, 1998, to June 20, 1999.
More than 1,500 people, the majority of them ethnic Albanians, are still considered missing, while the remains of missing persons have been discovered at several mass graves in Serbia.
