Nationalist graffiti and hate messages, including explicit calls for violence such as “Smrt za Šiptari” (“Death to Albanians”), have once again appeared along the “Old Road” in Umin Dol. Meanwhile, the inscription “Kosovo je Srbija” (“Kosovo is Serbia”) has appeared in Lubodrag.
Local residents removed the graffiti themselves, but its recurrence is raising serious concerns.
“We do not want conflict, we do not want confrontation. We want the institutions to act in time, before it is too late!” wrote Deniz Sulimani of the Youth Forum of the DUI branch in the village of Nikushtak, Likova Municipality, in a post on his Facebook account.
Citizens are calling for an immediate response from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other competent institutions to identify those responsible and prevent potential incidents.
