“Machine guns, long guns, explosive devices and uniforms” — Details of the Police operation in coordination with KIA in the north

The Director General of the Kosovo Police, Gazmend Hoxha, said that operations in the north targeting weapons and ammunition were carried out from August 6 to August 17, in coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), and the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes.

“With the aim of preventing and seizing illegal weapons, the Kosovo Police, in close coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Mitrovica, the Kosovo Intelligence Agency and the Directorate for the Investigation of War Crimes, from August 6 until August 17 conducted several police operations to uncover illegal weapons in the municipality of Zubin Potok.

These operations were undertaken following the receipt of information through various operational channels and in cooperation with different citizens, based on suspicions of possession of illegal weapons,” Hoxha said.

According to him, following the receipt and verification of the information, searches were carried out at 45 locations, where weapons, ammunition and other suspected unlawful items were found.

Hoxha said that among the confiscated weapons were 20 machine guns, 11 AK-47 assault rifles, 22 long guns of various types, 27 hunting rifles, nine pistols and one air rifle.

He also said that a total of 4,831 rounds of ammunition of various calibres were found.

“There were also ammunition, a total of 4,831 rounds of ammunition of various calibres. Plus, you will be able to see them later, because you will have the opportunity to see them one by one. There were also weapon parts, many stocks, buttstocks, magazines, weapon optics, ammunition boxes and also around 10 weights or magazines.

There were also many other military equipment items found, so as not to name them all: military knives, gas masks, 10 pairs of binoculars, radio communication equipment, radio holders, military axes, wooden ammunition boxes and other military equipment that was found and confiscated.

A large number of uniforms, military bags and military shirts belonging to the Serbian Army and Serbian Police were also found, as well as other equipment related to military activities.

Documentation was also seized, including documentation of the Territorial Defence of the former Yugoslavia, war veterans’ cards, personal documents with serial numbers, forest guard logs and various other handwritten notes for military purposes, permits for handguns, hunting-weapon permits and other expired permits.

During the operations, monetary assets were also found and seized, amounting to €9,600, as well as 5,000 Swiss francs,” Hoxha said.
