Albania is battling 11 active wildfires across the country, with the most difficult situation reported on Mount Dajti, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Authorities recorded 20 wildfire incidents on September 6 through 8 p.m. Of these, 11 remained active, seven were under monitoring and two had been extinguished.
Local authorities and Albania’s Armed Forces have deployed both ground and aerial resources as efforts continue to contain the fires and protect communities and property.
Mount Dajti remains the main concern
The situation on Mount Dajti remains particularly difficult, with firefighters continuing to battle active flames. The Armed Forces have deployed personnel, equipment and a helicopter to support the operation.
Another challenging situation has been reported in Kryezi, Kavajë, where firefighters have been assisted by an Air Tractor aircraft.
Active fires have also been reported in Dibër, particularly in the Lundre–Madhesh area of Mat.
In Lezhë, firefighting operations are continuing in the Kalivaç–Zimaj–Kashnjet area, supported by two Armed Forces helicopters.
In Shkodër County, the Bardhaj–Myselim fire remains active, with local emergency structures, volunteers and the Armed Forces involved in the response. Two helicopters have also been deployed there.
Flames remain active in Kulumri, near Fushë-Arrëz, while additional fires have been reported in Kropisht in Selenicë and Vokopolë in Poliçan.
Other fires under monitoring
Several fires in Korçë, Elbasan, Durrës, Fier, Kukës and Shkodër are currently under surveillance rather than active firefighting operations.
Authorities are also monitoring the situation in the Drizë–Peshtan–Frakull area of Fier.
The National Civil Protection Agency is coordinating the response across Albania with prefectures, municipalities and other responsible institutions.
Operational teams and equipment remain deployed and on standby, with authorities prioritizing the protection of lives, homes and property as firefighting efforts continue.
