Italian Carabinieri serving with the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU), part of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission, regularly conduct patrols in Mitrovica to help maintain a safe and secure environment, KFOR announced.
“These activities enable KFOR to maintain a visible and continuous presence throughout the region, allowing its units to maintain situational awareness and monitor the security situation on the ground.
Such efforts reflect KFOR’s continued commitment to contributing to security and stability, while also supporting freedom of movement for all people living in Kosovo in a transparent and impartial manner.
KFOR continues to implement its mandate—based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999—to contribute to providing a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo and to ensuring freedom of movement; at all times, impartially and in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), in their respective roles as security response actors,” KFOR said in its statement.
