Kosovo expects to receive a batch of U.S.-made Javelin anti-tank systems this year, Defence Minister Ejup Maqedonci has announced.

Maqedonci said the delivery had initially been expected last year, but delays were caused partly by global developments, high demand, and continued U.S. military support for Ukraine. He said discussions are ongoing and the delivery process is nearing its final stages.

The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) already has three types of anti-tank systems in its inventory, including systems acquired from Germany and Türkiye.

Maqedonci also confirmed that preparations are continuing for the arrival of U.S. Black Hawk helicopters, including the construction of hangars and other necessary infrastructure.

The United States approved Kosovo’s request to purchase the Javelin system in January 2024.
