Albanian Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi has closed Thursday’s parliamentary session following an hour of tension, verbal confrontations and physical clashes between lawmakers from the governing majority and the opposition.
The session descended into chaos after Democratic Party (PD) MP Flamur Noka rushed towards the majority benches in an attempt to seize their voting cards, with several other opposition MPs joining him.
During the confrontation, Democratic Party MP Fidel Kreka struck former Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha with a voting card before pushing him, triggering a physical altercation between the two.
Other lawmakers from both sides quickly became involved, escalating the incident into a mass brawl inside parliament.
