The Government of Kosovo today approved the Draft Law on the Ratification of the Extradition Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Sweden, aimed at strengthening international judicial cooperation in the fight against crime.
Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, said the agreement establishes the procedures and conditions for extraditing wanted individuals, both for criminal prosecution and for the enforcement of sentences imposed by judicial authorities.
“The extradition agreement between the Ministry of Justice of Kosovo and the Swedish Ministry aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating crime and administering justice. It establishes the procedures and conditions for the extradition of wanted individuals, whether for criminal prosecution or for the enforcement of sentences imposed by judicial authorities, while ensuring respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms.
“Ratification of this agreement will contribute to completing Kosovo’s legal framework and strengthening international judicial cooperation in criminal matters,” she said.
